Post-Combine Quarterbacks Review
Combine Studs
- Drew Stanton- Stanton did very well at the combine, looking impressive in all the drills. After Russell and Quinn, Stanton should be the next in line, a likely 2nd round pick. With Troy Smith skipping many drills, it likely makes Stanton ahead of Smith on most draft boards.
- Trent Edwards- Much like Stanton, Edwards looked impressive in all the drills and he could have put himself ahead of Smith on many boards. Edwards is a 2nd-round possibility who will be a Day 1 pick.
- Brady Quinn- Yes, he didn't run at the combine. But his build looked much better than Russell's at the combine and he put up 24 reps of 225 pounds, very impressive for a quarterback. It won't affect his stock much, but it gets his name in the headlines.
Combine Duds
- Isaiah Stanback- Isaiah Stanback was expected to be one of the most impressive quarterbacks at the combine because he is very athletic, but injuries kept him from running the 40 and other measurable drills, not giving him that opportunity.
- Troy Smith- If Smith wanted to be a 2nd-round pick, he needed a good combine. He will likely be behind Stanton and Edwards on most boards now, and will likely be selected no higher than the third round.
