Calvin
Johnson
Wide Receiver,
Georgia Tech
Height: 6'5" | Weight: 240
Positives:
Absolute freak of nature. Stands at 6’5, 240 pounds
and ran the 40 in 4.35 seconds at the NFL Combine. Incredible
leaping ability and uses his hands to effectively create
separation. Great ball skills; uses his body to his
advantage very well, including while in the air. Catches
the football with his hands; rarely lets the football
get in tight to his body. Adjusts easily to poorly thrown
balls, produces incredible athletic catches when needed.
Excelled despite playing with an average QB in Reggie
Ball at Georgia Tech.
Negatives:
Needs to improve on his route running; could be more
explosive in and out of breaks and needs to make his
breaks crisper. Never played with a polished Quarterback
and as a result has not developed completely.
Overall:
Absolutely
the top WR in the draft, possibly the best prospect
since Keyshawn Johnson or Randy Moss. He’s well
composed, a great player on and off the field, and lacks
the "excess baggage" that other premier WR's
seem to have. Despites being underused in college, Johnson
produced for the Yellow Jackets and should be an impact
player for his team.
